I think that the Life in those conditions is not Life at all! It is not worth. When People can not choose the kind of Life they want to live and have to follow rules that they dont want to, it is just unhappiness. Some people have to live in a jail for wrong actions or even worse live by themselves with fears. So what is the purpose of Life if you can not be,and nor choose what you want to? They just followed a routine Life because they had to! His purpose was go out. In fact, he died, but he got it . He didnt live a Life that he didnt want to for the rest of his life. In other words, he accomplished value in the final because at least he made his last decision in his life! Dying, but he did...
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteI can see that you grappled with Luke's dilemma. It becomes clear that the only way to freedom, for him, is death. And, hopefully, he inspired his jail-mates--not to commit suicide or to die trying to escape, but to have hope for a better, different future for themselves. Do you think he reached the other prisoners with his actions?
